Sick

This little one decided to get sick last week and of course JD was out of town on business. It was a minor cold but when Carly gets a cold she gets a horrible hacking, wet and nasty cough. Which means anytime she lays down, that couch sets in and sleep is non existent! So, for 3 nights I did my best to keep this little one comfy and asleep. I finally raised her mattress, loaded her up on Motrin, started her humidifier, inhaler before bed and vapor rub in front of her fan. However, I found the only way she could get some sort of sleep was sitting up. Carly is on the mend and we are back to sleeping. Tis the season for sickness... ugg!

Carly & Regan!

Carly and Regan have become BFF's. It is so neat for Rich and I to have our girls only 7 weeks apart. They love to see each other and play well together. Don't get me wrong, at times their Diva sides come out and the slapping, pulling of hair and pushing happens but in the end they love each other! Can't wait to see these little ladies grow up together.

Sister stepping stone!

OMG, I overheard Cole asking Carly to help him get on the counter, so as the nosey mom I am, I went to see how in the world this was going to happen. I mean, Cole is 45 pounds and Carly is weighing in at 27 pounds these days. This is what I caught on tape. I just wish it was not blurry...

A picture says it all!

This picture cracks me up and speaks the truth. Cole has the most sensitive eyes! He has always worn sun glasses and at first I thought it was for the fashion side of it (total divo) but as he got older I realized the sun and bright lights hurt his baby blues/greens! I guess he needed his shades for this photo op!

Baby no more!

Ahhhh, Carly you are getting so big and I feel like your baby look is fading away. Your features are coming out more and your baby fat is slowly disappearing! You are getting so tall and stretching out. Your beautiful hair is growing so fast... I LOVE IT. As I welcome the next stage of Toddler, I will miss you being a baby. You are gorgeous and I love everyday with you. Slow down Carly Anna!!!

Carly and the birds!

The other day I helped out in Cole's classroom and Carly got to stay with the neighbors Nanny, Marcela. Marcela has become a great friend of mine and the kids just love her. This is a video she took of Carly trying to feed the birds.

A cast won't slow this boy down!

We were outside enjoying the beautiful fall weather and my little man with the cast kept asking if he could ride his bike, I finally gave in and warned him he had to be careful and to take it easy so he would not hurt his wrist. He agreed and away he went. I ran upstairs for a minute and when I came back down, I stumbled upon my little man with the cast, at the edge of the driveway (observe picture above) staring down the hill contemplating on if he should do it or not. I stepped in and made that decision for him....NO! I told him when he gets his cast off and daddy is waiting for him at the bottom of the hill he can go for it. He sadly rode away and I felt like the worst mommy. Uggg....

Swing for Carly!

Wahoo! Daddy put up a tree swing for Carly and she loves it. We have been spending a lot of time in the backyard just swinging. Carly is fearless and I think she loves the feeling of swinging high up into the trees. Cole, gets in on the action himself and likes to swing just as much as Carly does. Hmm, maybe I should check the weight limit!

Carly at music!

I think I have posted about Carly and her music class she is in. Here is a little clip from class.

Tahoe...once again! October 13 - 14

 Carly at the Beacon!
 Watching the Salomon run.

Enjoying the hot tub with his cast wrapped.
We went to Tahoe for the night again. We had a blast as always. It really has become our home away from home.

New Ride!

Have I mentioned I got a brand new car! It is a beautiful Nissan Armada and I love it. It is big, safe and has the third row. Not that we use it that much. The storage in the back is perfect and the kids love the DVR although it is only used for trips!

BROKEN BONE!

Tough kid, all smiles before we found out he had a buckled fracture aka broken wrist.
The morning we went to get his hard cast. I had to treat him to his favorite bagel place.
 Waiting for his hard cast.
He was so nervous but did so well. I am so proud of him.
So, Cole broke his wrist, not that we ever would of known the way he was acting. We are still not sure exactly what and how it happened. Here are the two ways we think it happened.

1. He went down the stairs in a laundry basket, only to have the laundry basket stop half way and him continuing to fly down the stairs landing on his wrist (JD may or may not have had a hand in this)! This was Saturday.

2. He was running at school and fell directly on his wrist. He did cry a cry I have never heard before but the crying stopped soon after and I thought nothing more of it. This was Tuesday.

On Wednesday, he rolled out of a play car at school and lightly fell on his wrist and was complaing to his teacher. Ms. Maggie noticed it was swelling and called me. This prompted me to call his doctor and away we went to see what was going on. As we sat waiting for the doctor, he seemed fine putting pressure on his wrist and was in great spirit. The doc came in felt his wrist and as soon as she hit a certain spot he let out a scream. The doc explained to me that some kids just have a higher tolerance for pain and sent us for a Xray. As soon as the xray came back the doc called us back into the room and low and behold Cole was one of those kids with a higher tolerance for pain. He had a buckled fracture aka a broken wrist. WHAT, I could not believe it. They splinted him and then set us up for a appointment the next day in Sacramento to get his hard cast. The next morning we woke up super early and Cole and I went to his favorite breakfast place and then headed down the hill for the hard cast. Cole did great. I could tell he was nervous but he smiled the whole time. He is now in his cast for 4 weeks. Which means no soccer or swim. This is a major bummer for Cole. We are counting down the weeks until our little man is all healed and everything is back to normal. Can't wait to blog about that! Oh what a week it was!

First Video to the blog!

Growing up so fast.

Carly is growing up so fast, it is CRAZY! Look how big she looks in these pictures. 22 months old and she talks like a 3 year old and has attitude like a 16 year old.

Pops and Grammy M.

Pops and Grammy M., are the one Grandparents that come to all of Cole's sport activities. They would come to his swim meets and now try and make it to his soccer games as well. We definelty do not see them as much as we should. Hmmm, maybe I should work on that as well.

Softball!

JD plays in a adult softball game on Friday nights. They started in the spring and have continued into the fall. They only have a few more games until they have winter break. JD loves getting together with his high school buddies, drinking beers and just being a guy for the short hour that they play! I on the other hand have not been the supportive wife that I should have been through this year of softball. I think because JD travels so much that I want him all to myself on Friday nights. The games can go as late as 10:00 and by Friday, I am one tired mommy that doesn't want to have to put the kids to bed myself. Selfish I am being. This year was hard to go to the games too because Carly is still pretty young and all she wants to do is run out on the field, roll in the dirt, climb the bleachers, go up and down the stairs and never once giving me a break to sit and watch the game. I know how much fun JD has and I am making a promise to myself that come Spring ball I will attend more games with a smile on my face and let JD enjoy that hour of boy time. Until then, I will enjoy having my hubby home on Friday nights!

Jack Russel Brewery

 Cole's picture taking skills!
One of Uncle Rich as well.
We took the kiddos up the JRB on a warm Wednesday afternoon, for a picnic dinner. It is a favorite place of ours and I am going to be honest in the fact that we can drink a few beers while the kids run around! It is a calming and beautiful setting in Camino and I think If my brother Rich could move onto the property, I think he would.

Split Lip and a ER visit!

She looks happy but that is not the case.
My dear sweet Carly Anna you are a child that has NO FEAR. On a morning when daddy was out of town and Cole had to be at school we were rushing around as usual. Mommy was putting on her makeup and you and Cole were playing in the bathroom and watching me. Cole climbed up on the window seat in the bathroom and of course you followed. Somehow as you pulled yourself up and stood up your feet got tangled and you fell face first onto the tile about 3 feet down. At this point blood was pouring out of your face and mommy started to shake and rushed you to the sink. I noticed right away that it was your lip and thought maybe your tooth had been nocked out. We finally stopped the bleeding, changed our bloodstained clothes, took Cole to school and headed for the ER. You see, when you were not even 1 you split your bottom lip open and to this day you have a scar on the bottom of your lip. I certainly do not want you to have two scars on your beautiful lips, so your doctor told me to take you the ER to see if you need it to be stitched. After 3 hours of waiting in the ER (not a easy task with a wild 22 month old) the doctor came in, looked at your lip, said you would be just fine and sent us on our way! Mommy needed a few drinks that night and for some reason I came to the realization that we will probably have a few more visits with you to the ER. I pray that is not the case! Slow down little one you make mommy very nervous. I love you.

Pumpkin Patch Time!

A few weeks back (yes, I am behind on blogging) we met me dear friend Laura and her son Lucas at a Pumpkin Patch in Folsom. It was about 95 degrees out but we still managed to get into the Fall spirit and had a blast. I think we were the only ones there that day. The kiddos played and enjoyed romping through the patch and picking their pumpkins! I loved the random and awkward ones Cole picked.

Cole's first Fish!!!!!

 Getting ready.
 He was so excited!

 Just waiting!
 Still waiting.
This pictures cracks me up! I think he was a bit nervous about getting close to the fish!

So, we took the kids to Apple Hill for some lunch and some fishing. Cole has been wanting to fish for a while as his Pa Pa is always telling him about all the fish he has caught. So, with one excited little 4 year old, we went and rented the pole and worms, found a shady spot to sit and prepared ourselves for a long wait. To our surprise, the first cast Cole hooked a fish. He reeled that thing in all alone with the strength of a 16 year old. He was SO happy. Once the fish came to the surfass Cole wanted daddy to take over! I tried to get him to hold or touch the fish but he was happy enough to stand 2 feet away for the ever important "first picture with a fish"! It was a great day and a great memory for all of us.

P.S. Cole daddy had gotten the fish all cleaned and put on ice so you guys could BBQ it that night. You were so excited all day about eating your fish "Dinner"! So, about 6:00 daddy came to me and said, he was not sure about BBQ the fish and that he needed to run to the store to by a piece of salmon. Daddy could not let you down, so he BBQ the salmon and told you it was your fish... he he! You tried a bite but was not the biggest fan!
