Disneyland March 22, 2013
We have started a tradition for Cole's birthday where we go to Disneyland and then back to Pismo Beach for a week. Well, this year we decided to just take the kids to California Adventure Side of Disneyland and enjoy Cars Land and enjoy everything that side has to offer. The drive down was a breeze until we hit LA and then it took us 2 1/2 hours to get to our hotel because of TRAFFIC. It was horrible. The kids were hungry, tired, needed to use the potty's and just wanted to get there to relax and have some fun. When we finally got to our beautiful hotel, we quickly fed the kids, and off to the pool and hot tub. By this point it was about 9:00 and the kids were super tired. I gave them their new Disney shirts and off to bed we all went. Friday morning we got up early (which was not hard with the excitement of going to Disneyland) and headed to Disneyland. We had a BLAST and to be honest, I think JD and I enjoyed California Adventure Side more. It was more mellow, less people and less stress. Plus, I was able to enjoy a yummy lunch and a Beer, which they sell on this side of the park. Cole went on all the rides, including the Cars ride with dad. They were in line for about 2 hours but they had a blast and Carly napped the whole time, so I was able to people watch and enjoy that beer I was talking about :-)! I was able to take Cole on Tower of Terror, which I was so proud of him for going on. He LOVED it! Carly went on all the rides she could and I can't wait for next year when she can go on the bigger rides. We left the park about 3 and headed up the coast to Camarillo. We planned our time poorly again and sat in traffic for another 3 hours. The kids were so tired from the day that they slept through all the traffic. JD and I enjoyed driving through the beach towns and the quietness of the kiddos sleeping. When we FINALLY got to our hotel (Embassy Suits). we were ready for some fun. The hotel was beautiful and right on the beach. JD and I joked the whole time because it felt like we were in the Twilight Zone because the hotel was basically vacant and it was HUGE. We hit up the happy hour (free drinks) because let's face it, we needed some drinks after the day we had, ordered some pizza and went in the hotel's massive hot tub and pool. Again, by the time we got back to our room, it was about 10:00, kids were tired and us parents were tired as well. We all fell asleep in the same bed and woke up to the beautiful sound of the ocean and the beautiful feeling of knowing we had 8 days ahead of us in our Happiest Place on Earth... Pismo!
